Profile of Shareholders

Akbary Brey studied through the University of the Western Cape where she obtained her BA LLB degrees.  She also holds an Advanced Diploma in Labour Law (UCT). Akbary has extensive experience gained in the Western Cape Provincial Government and has represented the employer in many high profile disciplinary matters and dismissal disputes.

Trudi Maré is an admitted attorney and holds a BLC LLB (University of Pretoria) and LLM (Nelson Mandela University).  In addition thereto she also completed the Programme in Financial Management at the Centre for Business Studies (UNISA) and a course in HIV/Aids Care and Counselling (UNISA).  Her theoretical knowledge is complemented with 10 years experience in labour related and industrial relations matters within the public as well as the private sector, i.e. as legal advisor with a registered trade union, as legal advisor with a provincial administration, and as an industrial relations advisor in the highly unionised environment of the mining industry.

Marius Basson holds a BA (Hons) from Free State University, BIuris from UNISA and an Advanced Diploma in Labour Law from Johannesburg University.  He was employed by the state for 19 years and served the Department of Education and the Western Cape Provincial Government in the Human Resources and Labour Relations Divisions.  During the last 12 years of his career in the Public Service, Marius was mainly responsible for high profile internal disciplinary hearings and represented the state in arbitrations relating mainly to dismissals.  He drafted a large number of training interventions related to disciplinary actions and methodology for investigation of grievances.  He left the state to start a labour law and labour relations consultancy with a view of rendering a specialist support service to the Public Service as an industrial relations specialist.
